An unbroken chain of custody, in transit and in store

Custody is where provenance most often breaks: a work moves, changes hands, sits in storage, and the paper trail thins out. Attesian lets movement and custody be recorded as events, keeping the chain of custody continuous instead of guessed at.

Hand-offs can be confirmed from both sides, so a transfer between shipper, installer, and owner becomes an attested link rather than an undocumented gap — the kind of gap that later casts doubt on everything around it.

Continuous custody

Movements and hand-offs are recorded as ordered, append-only events, so a work's whereabouts over time form an unbroken sequence.

Attested hand-offs

A transfer confirmed by both parties is recorded at the highest trust tier, closing the ambiguity that undocumented movements create.

Provenance-grade records

The same tamper-evident, independently verifiable record that protects authenticity also documents custody — one trustworthy history, not two disconnected logs.

Questions

Is this a tracking or logistics management tool?
No — Attesian is a provenance registry, not a logistics platform. It records custody events as part of a work's permanent history so the chain of custody is verifiable, alongside whatever operational systems you already use.
