Certificates of authenticity for ceramics
Ceramic work is three-dimensional and often produced in related series, which makes an honest record more useful than a falsely precise one. Attesian gives each ceramic piece a signed certificate and an append-only provenance record.
Register a piece and it gets its genesis event and certificate. Identity and authenticity rest on the registry and on attestation by the people involved, with the image playing a supporting role.
Each piece is its own registry item, even within a related series.

How image fingerprinting applies
As with any three-dimensional medium, a single photograph captures one view, so the perceptual image fingerprint is a weaker uniqueness signal for ceramics. The registry record and attestation do the heavier lifting.
